“My Life With Doris” at Greenside, Nicolson Square (Venue 209) is an enjoyable journey through the life, films, and music of Doris Day, courtesy of Sarah Laing.

Sarah tells how her first encounter with Doris Day was when, as a bored 8 year old who was off sick from school, she came across Calamity Jane on television and was immediately captivated by her.   Since then, her love for Doris Day’s music has steadily grown, and she now performs this show telling Doris’s life story and singing some of her most famous songs.

In a one woman show with minimal props, there is no place to hide, and Sarah Laing comes across as warm and friendly, with a performance which is joyous and entertaining.

With songs including “Sentimental Journey”, “The Deadwood Stage”, “Secret Love”, and ending with a sing-along version of “Que Sera Sera”, the show was a pleasant and relaxing way to spend 50 minutes.
